Just you against the clock. It’s for all ages, all types of bike, and for beginners and experienced riders alike. Events are themed to add an extra bit of fun. The famous Newbury Velo prizes are awarded at all club time trials and have all kinds of categories - certainly not just the fastest!

How to Enter the Walbury Hill Climb

Short or Medium Course:

When you enter, make sure you select the correct course length and fill in your registration details in full. Simply select the course you are entering, click the enter button, complete the form, and add to basket. Ensure you check out using the cart button at the top of the page.

You do not need to be a member of a cycling club to ride the short or medium course.

Full Course:

Entries for the Full Course are handled through Cycling Time Trials (CTT). Clicking the entry link will open CTT's website in a new window.

This is run as an "Open" event, so you'll need to register an account with CTT if you don't already have one.

Not a member of a cycling club? No problem, your full course entry fee includes one-day associate membership of Newbury Velo, so simply select Newbury Velo as your club when entering.

Riding an E-bike?

We've been given special dispensation to allow e-bikes at this event. Please note that e-bike times only count towards our Club e-bike results — they are not eligible for the official CTT event result.

Club Hill Climb Championship

Only times set by full Newbury Velo club members count towards the Club Hill Climb Championship.

This is a key fixture in our cycling calendar. The day before the event, our broom-wielding Velo Volunteers will be out in force sweeping the route, so you can speed up Walbury Hill unhindered as you pit yourself against the clock — and the mighty hill itself.

Sign-on time: 08:15–09:45. We'll email the start list to all riders ahead of the event.

Running order: the CTT Open event will take place first, followed by the British Cycling short and medium courses, for a seamless day of hill climb racing.
