Krazy Races Soap Box Team

Join us once again in supporting the Newbury Velo Krazy Races Soap Box team as we prepare to launch ourselves downhill in our handcrafted creation at one of Newbury’s most anticipated community events. After entering the 2025 race and raising over £1500 for Club funds, all of which has gone directly into accessible cycling projects, children’s coaching, and wider community‑based cycling and triathlon initiatives, we’re back for 2026 with even more momentum. Our fearless team of cycling and triathlon club members will once again swap their usual two wheels for a gravity‑powered machine, blending engineering creativity with a generous dose of daredevil spirit.

This year’s event promises another thrilling day of fundraising and fun, helping us continue our work across the local cycling community, from supporting less‑able riders to expanding youth coaching opportunities and delivering inclusive club activities.

Whether we cross the finish line in triumph or in pieces, your support helps propel both our soap box and our club’s mission forward.

Help Us Raise Money to Support Accessible Cycling and Children’s Coaching

Why Sponsor the Team?

Sponsoring our Krazy Races Soap Box Team will help Newbury Velo deliver its cycling and triathlon activities to the communities of West Berkshire

Kids Coaching

Running youth cycling programs and triathlon coaching requires substantial investment: qualified coaches need current DBS checks, safeguarding certifications, and first aid qualifications. Additional costs include insurance, British Cycling membership, and regular coaching course updates. We also want to but some kit for our kids to borrow and wear

Accessible Cycling

We are one of only 25 British Cycling's Limitless Focus Clubs, we help to provide inclusive cycling by providing adapted equipment and specialised coaching. The initiative helps disabled cyclists participate in the sport through tandems, customised bikes.

Races and Events

Organising cycling events like our Hill Climb, Summer Cycle Cross, regular Cycle Cross and the Newbury Triathlon involves expenses such as British Cycling permits, traffic management signage, first aid provision event, signage, timing systems, and safety equipment. Additional costs include venue hire and officials' expenses.

Expanding the Club

Expanding and developing the Club creates more opportunities for fitness, friendship, and skill development while promoting sustainable transportation and building a stronger, healthier local community through shared activities.

Kit Maintenance

Maintaining a cycling club requires significant investment in equipment, training kit and facilities, spare parts, and mechanical servicing. Regular replacement of shared equipment, and emergency repair kits all contribute to the ongoing operational expenses of running the club.

Sustaianability

Through our work with West Berkshire Council, we help to promote and support safe Cycling in West Berkshire. We have a seat on the West Berkshire Cycle Forum, where our opinions and ideas can be transformed into real benefits for the local community.

Newbury Velo is registered Community Amateur Sports Club

We are a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC), a registered organisation that promotes local sports participation, qualifying for tax benefits like Gift Aid on donations and reduced business rates to support community fundraising.
