The Newbury Triathlon is one of UK's most legendary sprint triathlons. The 2025, 38th edition, will take place on the 7th September 2025, hosted by Newbury Velo.

The first Newbury Triathlon took place in 1987, making it one of the longest-running triathlon events in the UK. Over the years, the event has grown in popularity and has become a staple in the local sporting calendar. The Newbury Triathlon continues to attract participants from all over the country, showcasing the town of Newbury as a hub for triathlon enthusiasts.

300m Swim - 22km Cycle - 5km Run (This event contains an open road cycling route).

Why The Newbury Triathlon…

There are several reasons why you should consider entering the Newbury Triathlon:

The Newbury Triathlon takes place in the beautiful countryside surroundings of Berkshire, providing a picturesque backdrop for your race. Enjoy the stunning views and fresh air as you compete in the event. It is known for its friendly and supportive atmosphere, with fellow participants, volunteers, and spectators cheering you on every step of the way. It's a great opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and be part of a community of triathletes. Being a sprint triathlon, this event is an ideal way of dipping your toe into the sport, you don’t need a fancy bike, swish helmet, or be able to run a marathon. Come and give it a go, everyone is welcome. You can enter as an individual, or a relay team where each person takes on a different leg of the triathlon.

We have above-average female participation (around 40% of entrants).

We have a family-friendly location, situated next to a public park with an outdoor playground. The leisure centre has a soft play area and an indoor swimming pool (check with Northcroft Leisure Centre for availability).

Where is the event

The Newbury Triathlon takes place in Newbury, Berkshire, UK. It makes use of the newly refurbished outdoor swimming pool at the Northcroft leisure centre. There is plenty of on-site parking on the field adjacent to the leisure centre.

The swim is in the outdoor pool, the bike ride is through the surrounding countryside, and the run is along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

When is the Event

The 2025 event will take place on Sunday 7th September 2025. This’ll be the 38th year of Newbury Triathlon.

Entries

All entires must be made in advance. We are unable to accept “on the day” entry.

Entries will close on Friday, 29th August 2025.

Refund Policy

If you are unable to race for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible. You may receive a partial refund. To qualify for a refund, you will need to contact us at: newburytriathlon@newburyvelo.cc by email.

The event refund policy is:

•                Notification of more than 8 weeks - 50% of entry fee

•                Notification of 2 to 8 weeks - 20% of entry fee

•                Notification of less than 2 weeks - No return

Results will be available online at https://dbmaxresults.co.uk and will be emailed to you, and linked at the base of this page.

There will be a team of official race photographers.
